Eve Giles
Partner
Eve was called to the bar in 1999 and joined Kingsley Napley in 2000, qualifying as a solicitor in 2001. She became a partner in 2009.
Eve specialises in acting in cases involving business and general crime, extradition, corruption and cartels. She recently acted for an individual in the unsuccessful Office of Fair Trading prosecution of the airlines case (British Airways / Virgin passenger fuel surcharge) under the Enterprise Act 2002.
Eve has been involved in a number of high profile cases, including acting for Damian Green MP and in the 'cash for honours' inquiry. She has acted for individuals in a number of overseas corruption investigations (including one of the BAE investigations) and has met with the OECD Working Group in relation to the UK's approach to prosecuting foreign corruption. She has acted for individuals and prosecution witnesses in a variety of Serious Fraud Office investigations into alleged fraud, money laundering, misleading OFWAT and Company Act offences.
She is a member of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) team at Kingsley Napley and represented an individual from AIT in the FSA's first criminal prosecution under section 397 FSMA 2000 for misleading the market.
Eve is a member of the steering committee of the Extradition Lawyers Association. She advises individuals facing extradition proceedings and lectures on extradition law. She is astute to the potential threats to individuals whose multi-national business interests may leave them vulnerable to criminal investigations in foreign jurisdictions, including by the US Department of Justice.
Eve also regularly represents suspects at the police station and has acted for individuals in a broad range of general criminal prosecutions including murder, rape, other sexual offences, harassment, theft and assault. She also has experience in public inquiries, having been part of the Kingsley Napley team representing the Master of the Bowbelle in the Marchioness Inquiry.
